DAR-UL-ULOOM MUHAMMADIA GHOUSIA BHERA

 

The dawn of the 19th century brought with itself the worst educational situation for the entire Muslim world. The glorified status of the Muslims was taken away due to the lack of knowledge and its strength.The areas where the Hindus

were in majority were in worst possible conditions because they never let the Muslims to study and gain knowledge. Bhera was one of those parts of Sub-continent where the Hindus were in majority. The Muslims were kept backward and ignorant. During those years the establishment of the religious institutes for the Muslims was just like adding fuel to the fires of the Hindus against the Muslims. Ghazi al-Islam Huzoor Shaykh Muhammad Shah (RA) had the courage to look all the odds into its eyes and established a religious institution and named it “Dar-ul-Uloom al-Muhammadia al-Ghousiya” in the remote village of Bhera, Pakistan. A school for the poor Muslims also came into existence soon after it.

The Son of Hazrat Ghazi al-Islam (RA), The great Huzoor Zia-ul-Ummah Justice Shaykh Pir Muhammad Karam Shah al-Azhari had been studying in Egypt in Al-Azhar University. In 1957 he completed his studies and came back to Bhera. He had foreseen the phenomenon that the Muslims were only studying Islamic education and other fields of study were left untouched because they were thought to be Anti-Islam. He revitalized the entire system of Darul Uloom and introduced new subjects like Economics, Civics, and other modern fields of knowledge. Due to his efforts Dar-ul-Uloom al-Muhammadia al-Ghousiya became one of the pioneer institutes in the entire world.

His basic motive behind this revitalization was to produce such intellectuals who can lead the Muslim world on the basis of Islamic and other modern fields of knowledge. To produce such scholars who could mold the lives of the Muslims in accordance with the wisdom of Islam.

This new system which was introduced in 1957 by Huzoor Zia-ul-Ummah (RA) was like a blow of fresh air in the lives of the depleted Muslims throughout the world. Darul Uloom Muhammadia Ghousia concerns itself with the religious syllabus which pays special attention to religious studies on one hand and the study of modern subjects on the other.

This educational movement that had started initially from a small room in 1925 has now become itself into a successful and fruit bearing movement. This institute distinguishes itself as a spiritual and scholastic center in the Muslim world. It is definitely the spearhead of spreading the true spirit of Islam and its knowledge to the modern world. Thousands of the graduated scholars from this institute are paying their part for the glory and eminence of Islam in different countries of the world. There is no doubt in the fact that Dar-ul-Uloom al-Muhammadia al-Ghousiya is one of the greatest spiritual and educational institutes of this Century.
